Loans and requests
Please register for a library account before you visit us and pick up your library card, and do not forget to bring valid photo ID. At the library information desk you also get a PIN code to use at the self-service machines.
You can use the library catalogue LUBcat to search for literature and see where it is located. If the book is already out on loan you can request it. You can also check your loans and in some cases extend them. All the libraries within Lund University have the same lending conditions and library card.
LU card as library card for students and employees
Students and staff at Lund University use their LU card as their library card. At the service points you can also borrow with a ID card, including RSID card.
Use PIN code at the self-service machines. Forgot the PIN code for your LU card? Log into the LU card portal with your student ID or Lucat. If you don´t have a LU card, please contact the library staff at the library information desks.
The loan period for course literature is two weeks.
For other books in our collections the loan period is 28 days with automatic renewal as long as the book is not requested by another patron. You are personally responsible for your loans and keeping track of lending periods.
Reference books can be checked out but must be returned the same day. They need to be checked out at our service points.
Request a Book and Renew your Loans
You can check your loans and make a request in to the library catalogue. Log in with your Swedish personal number or equivalent (12 digits), and type your own password. If you have an LU card it's normally the number under your name, just add 19 before.
If there are no requests for the books you have borrowed, you can renew ten times. You can also renew your loans at the library information desks.
Pick up location for books requests
You can request books from other libraries at Lund University, and choose your preferred pickup location for most of the books.
Books are returned in the self-service machine at our libraries in Lund and Malmö. Book return boxes are also located outside the libraries at HSC in Lund and CRC in Malmö. At BMC, a return box is placed outside the book room. You can return books at any of the libraries within Lund University.
