– I would never forget how excited I was when I got the phone call from the Embassy of China in Sweden notifying me that I got this award. It is one of greatest moments in my life. Being granted for this award means my scientific research development and accomplishment during my PhD study period is admitted on a outstanding level by the Chinese government from a professional point of view. Hence, I feel very proud and honoured to be able to get this award. Most importantly, I am sincerely grateful to my supervisor professor Erik Renström and my co-supervisor associate professor Enming Zhang for their tremendous encouragement, help, support and guidance, which are endless throughout my PhD study journey. I would never get this award without their supervision. I would also like to thank Lund University to provide me a wonderful platform to develop myself.
What kind of research you do?
– I am doing research with the focus on islet pathophysiology in type 2 diabetes, mainly by exploring the novel roles of voltage-gated calcium channel subunits and calcium signals in pancreatic beta-cell in humans and rodents, and establishing the association between ion channels and islet-enriched transcription factors, and the effects on beta-cell gene expression, aging, dedifferentiation, secretion capacity and diabetes development.
What are your future ambitions and goal?
– I am right now a postdoc in the same group, working with many interesting projects. I also have my own project which I have got some very promising data. I plan to continue my academic career within diabetes research field, and hopefully I could step further and find out my own research area and direction in the future.
