Department of Experimental Medical Science

The Department of Experimental Medical Science is one of six departments within the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University. Here, research is conducted at the molecular, cellular and integrative levels into the biological processes that govern the body’s functions, both in health and in disease.

We conduct research at the highest international level, serve as a hub for research bridging the gap between clinical and pre-clinical work, and provide a stimulating learning environment for the researchers and teachers of the future.

How we are organised

The Departmental Board is a decision-making body and meets twice per term. The Head of Department chairs the meetings.

The Department Board of Experimental Medical Science

The Departmental Management Team implements the Board’s decisions, and the Head of Department, who leads the team, is responsible for the department’s finances, staff and health and safety. The group includes deputy heads of department with responsibility for undergraduate education, postgraduate education, and health, safety and the environment, as well as administrative manager of the department’s office, and communications officer.

The department’s sections are represented by section representatives. The management group meets with the representatives twice per term. All research group leaders are also invited to these meetings.
