Teachers who teach at undergraduate or advanced level are generally employed by the departments. The faculty's education and programme boards are responsible for education at undergraduate and advanced level.

The highest decision-making body in each department is the departmental board, which is chaired by the head of department. The head of department is responsible for the department's activities , and is supported by a deputy head of department and assistant heads of department with different areas of responsibility.

Research

The Faculty of Medicine has a large number of strong research clustres and centres. Research is organised in research groups, which often collaborate in networks and centres to meet demanding societal challenges. Many centres conduct interdisciplinary and cross-faculty research.

The faculty coordinates four of Sweden's 20 national strategic research areas, which promote innovative thinking and risk-taking in research.
