Department of Laboratory Medicine
Welcome to the Department of Laboratory Medicine (ILM), one of six departments at Lund University’s Faculty of Medicine. We conduct leading research, both broad and specialised, within the field of laboratory medicine, focusing on the onset of disease and how we can improve diagnostics and treatment for patients.
Our strongest research areas are:

- Cell and Molecular Biology
- Clinical Laboratory Medicine
- Hematology
- Immunology in the medical area
- Microbiology in the medical area
- Occupational and environmental medicine
- Pharmacology and Toxicology
In addition, we are also active as lecturers within first and second cycle education – above all within the medical and biomedical degree programmes.
