The Faculty of Medicine Centre for Teaching and Learning

The Centre for Teaching and Learning at the Faculty of Medicine (MedCUL) supports teachers and educational leaders in their pursuit to develop high-quality educational environments and pedagogical competence.

The strategic plan of Lund University (2017-2026) stresses the need to integrate research and education in education environments where teaching and research qualifications are equally rewarded. Mission

Connecting Teachers - Furthering Medical Education

Collaborating closely with management, teachers, and students across programmes, MedCUL works to ensure that the design and development of student and teacher education is based on current theoretical insights, best evidence medical education and the use of modern technology. We strive to inspire and connect teachers, to support pioneering and long-term quality improvement work for the furthering of medical and health professional education. This include the development and implementation of digital learning support-systems.

Current development projects:

  • A digital system for quality and progress (QPS) involving all educational programmes, including curriculum mapping, examinations and programmatic assessment.
  • The development of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) for undergraduate studies.
  • Competency- and EPA-based programs for physicians specializing in clinical supervision -  a collaboration with the county council.
  • PhD programme quality improvement work.
