MoRe-Lab opens the gates

Researchers measuring of movement and light in MoRe-Lab.
At MoRe-Lab researchers will be able to study, among other things, how medication or exercise programs affects the ability to function in standardized and real world environments. For example, a home, workplace, gym or outdoor environment.

MoRe-Lab (Movement & Reality Lab) is an experimental health science test environment for studies of movement, activity and behavior in full scale. A new platform for interdisciplinary collaborations open to the entire university. Initiators and partners outside the academy are also welcome to join MoRe-Lab's operations. On December 8th, MoRe-Lab will be inaugurated.

On Wednesday, December 8th, MoRe-Lab will open its gates in The Spark Building's basement at Medicon Village, Lund. The research is already underway - although on a smaller scale than will be the case when MoRe-Lab moves into the Faculty of Medicine's new building Forum Medicum on Sölvegatan.

Complex dynamics
MoRe-Lab will be used to study the complex dynamics between physical function, behavior, cognition, emotions and different environments. On the one hand, it is a movement lab where you can measure, for example, muscle strength and perform movement analysis. Secondly, it is a Reality Lab where you can study situations in standardized and real world environments such as homes, workplaces, hospital wards, training facilities or various outdoor environments.

Interdisciplinary collaborations
The new lab aims to attract researchers from different disciplines who want to conduct studies in different realistic environments.

- It could for example be social sciences, humanities or engineering disciplines. MoRe-Lab is available to all faculties at LU and external users, Steven Schmidt says, associate professor in medical psychology and project leader of MoRe-Lab.
